A Taste of Niagara
Wednesday, July 17, 2019
Niagara

During the war of 1812, a brave woman set out on a perilous journey in the service of her country and stepped forever into the history and folklore of Niagara. Travel back in time for our first stop to the lovingly restored Laura Secord Homestead, Home of Canada's Most Famous Heroine, and be enchanted by stories of her adventures and surroundings as interpreted by authentically costumed guides. Our next stop is to Hernder Estate Winery for an included lunch and a tour and tasting. The Hernder family has one of the largest family estate winery operations in Canada. They presently produce more than 25 varieties of wines from its 500 acres of land spread between St. Catharines and Beamsville. Our last stop of the day will be to 13th Street Winery & Bakery. Their boutique winery is set amongst 25 acres of estate vineyards that specialize in handcrafted Pinot Noir, Gamay Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, and sparkling wines. The bakery features seasonal fresh baked goods (made onsite) and an assortment of jams, jellies, and preserves made with Niagara produce. Enjoy an included famous butter tart (voted Canada's Best Butter Tart by House and Home in July 2017) while you stroll the grounds of this lovely place or take it home!
