A Day North
Wednesday, October 6, 2021
As we begin our journey north today, our first attraction will be in the village of Coboconk and home of one of the smallest jails in North America! The Coby jail constructed in 1884 and built with two foot thick limestone walls mined from local quarry remains unchanged in quaint village. For all HGTV watchers our next stop will be the Carving Gallery near Norland. Ontario's own Scott McGillvray included this unique stop on one of his episodes of Scott's Vacation House Rules. Prepare to be amazed at what the detailed carving demonstration creates. Enjoy an included lunch at the Haliburton Highlands landmark resort at the Bonnie View Inn located on Lake Kashagawigamog. After lunch we will visit the Hawk Lake Log Chute on this site since 1861 and it's the last remaining one of it's kind in North America and preserves the local pioneer history!
