Once you reach the edge of your world, Haida Gwaii begins. Located off the coast of British Columbia, Haida Gwaii is one of Canada's most historically, culturally, and geographically unique areas. We will begin our journey in Prince Rupert, a bustling coastal town and the gateway to British Columbia's pristine and untamed North. Visit Khutzeymateen also known as the "Valley of the Grizzly" home to one of the highest concentrations of grizzly bears in North America. Watch for whales from the BC Ferry on the scenic journey across the Hecate Straight to Haida Gwaii. We will spend 3 nights on this beautifully rugged archipelago of islands often nicknamed the Galapagos of Canada. Learn about the culture and way of life of the Haida people. Admire centuries-old totem poles standing in the remains Haida Nation Villages and experience some of the last remaining authentic examples of coastal first Nations villages. The islands are known for their dramatic landscapes, abundant wildlife, and some of the world's richest heritage treasures. There are no chain stores, fast food franchises or large hotels on the Islands of the People, so you can truly get away from it all!
